The deposit of iron has been known since 1849. Gemstones were discovered in 1979.
Gems are found in bed-like and lens-like bodies of brown iron ore, which consists of dense fine-porous aggregate of goethite and hydrogoethite. The walls of voids in ore, which can be up to 2m³, are covered with quartz and goethite druses. Kidney-like aggregates of goethite may be covered with quartz of different colours.
Quartz material is found in various colours: colourless, white, yellow, brown-yellow, reddish-brown, dark brown, very rarely violet. Crystals are usually short and prismatic. Common inclusions: goethite needles of golden-orange and brown colours.
Druses of quartz with goethite inclusions represent a beautiful decorative material. Quartz crystals in druses are small (up to 1cm) but have bright tips, good colour and very transparent.
It is possible to find gemstones here.
