Locality type:
Köppen climate type:
Structure: Wichita Mountains Lugert Granite Intrusive
Tectonics: Aulacogen
Deposit: Atchison (1936) estimated that 1,548,800 cubic yards of azurite and malachite was available for leaching. This area was probably worked very early, but no information is available at present.
Development: Probably worked before 1936. Nichols (1968, p. 73) mentioned that the area was bulldozed.
Geology: Probably hydrothermal veins in lugert granite were weathered, and the copper was incorporated into permian arkose (hennessey). Polk (1948) and merritt (1958) are sources for geology.
Rock formation(s): Lugert Granite
Hennessey Group
Ore(s): Hydrothermal Veins
