A former mica mine.
Consists of a large east-west trending trench on the eastern edge of some low hills. Located about 4 kilometres north of Ilpere/Prosser Bore. A station track passes east-west 500 metres north of the site, but there is no access track directly to the mine.
Described historically as a 34 foot deep pit as the western workings, with small pits elsewhere on irregular, randomly orientated, small pegmatites. Only the western workings could be seen on satellite images, and the other small pits remain a mystery.
Rochow states the pegmatite outcrops for 65 metres, has a quartz core to a maximum of 20 feet thick, but averaging 2-3 feet thick. The pegmatite tapers off rapidly to the east, and ends abruptly to the west.
The wall zones contain fine grained quartz, plagioclase, muscovite, mica books, with some schorl and beryl.
Daly & Dyson indicate that the deposit "consists of five groups of small workings, over a length of about 300 yards".
Coordinates as per Modat.
