Marketing term given to the stone, although the Argyle area (Argyle Dam, Argyle Diamond Mine etc) is in the eastern Kimberley, several hundred kilometres away. Argyle White is a test quarry, showing fine to medium grain Melligo Sandstone, outcropping in the area as steep sided mesas. There is a hardened sandstone ridge capping which extends down the cliffs by 20 metres. High on the slopes Meteor Stone extracted blocks of hard white to pale beige sandstone. It is quartz rich, medium grained, clouded with polycrystalline quartz, leucoxene-limonite, and muscovite.
