The Gem Gold Mine was owned by Gibson and Commins, who also owned the Gambier lease, being the original lease on the gold field.
12 acres. They worked the lease from 1899 to 1904. Ore was 4 oz to the tonne. The lease contained several shafts along the reef line for 100 feet. The lease was north of the Camellia leases, on a small reef 12 to 15 inches wide. Crushings are noted in 1906 from the mine under the name Murphy and party.
