The Aktepe silver deposit is located about 110 kilometres east south-east of Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Kovalenker et al. (1995) described the deposit as having “Ores rich in native silver . . . similar to the arsenide – silver ores of the Cobalt-Gowganda region, Canada.”, for which see Berry (1971). The “ores” are said to occur in mostly narrow fissure veins, averaging 0.1 to 0.5 metres, locally reaching 1 to 2 metres. The veins are described as containing carbonates, quartz, baryte, and some sericite, with sulfides, arsenides and native silver. The reported compositions of the native silver range from essentially pure silver to varieties with up to 8 wt% Sb, or 31 wt% Hg.
