Roy Leach discovered the location in 1914, and obtained 50 ounces of gold from it. After laying idle for many years, two Austrians took up the mine, finding 800 ounces of gold from a pocket. The mine lay idle until the early 1930's, when Ken McPherson found another pocket with 400 ounces.
It is a habit of old prospectors to return to mines they operated in their early years. The passing of time, appears to increase the lingering doubts they had found all the gold. Roy returned to the Selena in 1947, with mate Laurie Culley. They sank a new shaft and near McPherson's find, located 13 ounces of nuggets and another 5 ounces in fine dirt.
The Mindat co-ordinates are approximate.
