Oxide- and apatite-rich modally layered gabbronorite in the Bjerkreim-Sokndal Layered Intrusion in the Rogaland Anorthosite Province. The stratigraphic sequence, to which the Teksevatnet S deposit belongs, is conventionally denoted MCU4-e and may be followed along strike from Rappstad in the southern extension around the hinge of the Bjerkreim lobe to Ualand in the north-eastern extension - a total distance of approximately 25 km. The two uppermost zones in MCU IV (the e- and f-zones) contain apatite in addition to ilmenite and magnetite. The stratigraphic thickness of these two zones exceeds 1 km in the central part, however the economic part is restricted to the lowermost part (50-170 m) of zone e. The zone of economic interest is further restricted to the northeastern part of the Bjerkreim lobe, the area between Terland and Ualand, a total distance of ~10 km.
In the area of Bilstadvatnet the thickness of MCU4e zone has increased slightly compared to the Teksevatnet area. At Bilstadvatnet the thickness of MCU IVe is in the order of 1000 m. The economic part has a thickness of approximately 60m. The total amount of apatite + ilmenite + magnetite have increased slightly with respect to Teksevatnet-Lauvneset (also in Lund county). The profile at Bilstadvatnet W was sampled along outcrops on the shore of lake Bilstadvatnet at a peninsula northeast of Bilstad (Neset). A 30 m-thick continuous zone of cm-dm-scale layered melanocratic gabbronorite was encountered.
