Teksevatnet, Lund, Rogaland, Norge
Oxide- and apatite-rich modally layered gabbronorite in the Bjerkreim-Sokndal Layered Intrusion in the Rogaland Anorthosite Province. The stratigraphic sequence, to which the Teksevatnet S deposit belongs, is conventionally denoted MCU4-e and may be followed along strike from Rappstad in the southern extension around the hinge of the Bjerkreim lobe to Ualand in the north-eastern extension - a total distance of approximately 25 km. The two uppermost zones in MCU IV (the e- and f-zones) contain apatite in addition to ilmenite and magnetite. The stratigraphic thickness of these two zones exceeds 1 km in the central part, however the economic part is restricted to the lowermost part (50-170 m) of zone e. The zone of economic interest is further restricted to the northeastern part of the Bjerkreim lobe, the area between Terland and Ualand, a total distance of ~10 km.
The deposit is part of the same zone (MCU4-e) as the deposit described as Terland S and Teksestemmen (also Eigersund county) and Teksevatnet S, Bilstadvatnet-W, Bilstadvatnet-Storaneset, Mjåsund, Ollestad and Ualand (all located in Lund county). Lauvneset is a peninsula in the easternmost part of Teksevatnet easy accessible by foot from the road to Bjørnemoen. The peninsula provides a spectacular section through well-developed modal graded and isomodal layering in addition to erosion structures, slump structures and impact structures related to xenoliths of the gneissic and anorthositic wall rock
