The Selene gold prospect is near the old Dundas townsite, now marked only by an information sign. Access to the area is via the Old Coach Road, developed as a tourist drive by the local council, and about 20 kilometres south of Norseman.
At Selene, gold is found in banded iron formation, intruded by numerous dolerite sills. The Footwall is in contact with metamorphic schist. The Hanging Wall is overlain by dolerites of the Woolyeener Formation.
