At the level of erosion, the Kluchevskoy massif represents a drop-shaped structure, which extends submeridionally for about 25 km, reaching a maximum width of 7.5 km in the south. The exposed area is about 85 km2. According to geophysical data the thickness of the massif increases sharply from 0.8 km in the northern part to 5–6 km in the southern one. 19 small deposits and ore occurrences of chromites have been identified within the Kluchevskoy massif. Seven of them are localized in the northern (mantle) part (dunite–harzburgite complex) and twelve deposits and ore occurrences are confined to the lower part (dunites) of the stratified part of the section (dunite–wehrlite–clinopyroxenite–gabbro complex).
