The Sapat olivine deposit is northeast of Naran in northern Mansehra. Olivine is often brought to market in Dassu (capital of Kohistan District), north of the Komila bridge, via the Jalkot Valley.

The Sapat complex consists of ultramafic rocks which are hosted by layered meta-gabbros and gabbro-diorites in the southern amphibolitic belt of the Kohistan arc. The deposit has formed in serpentinized shear zones in dunite.
