An open-cut nickel mine with minor Cu, Co, Pt and Pd. In the pit can be found some azurite nodules plus malachite, and dolomite rhombs.
Located 22.7 km SW from Kambalda.
Located 750 metres ENE of Location 3 Mine.
This is one of 4 nickel prospects located on the limb of a north trending mafic-ultramafic sequence, folded into a double plunging anticline. The mineralisation is hosted by a up to 50 metres thick ultramafic flow. Nickel comes as massive and disseminated sulphides in the lower 30 metres of the ultramafic flow. The main deposit is a shallow embayment structure, plunging steeply south for at least 350 metres, and 300 metres strike. Within the embayment are three sub parallel shoots with massive sulphides developed intermittently.
The locations are named Location 1A with a Ni resource of 0.365 Mt at 2.53% Ni, Location 2 0.119 Mt at 2.32% Ni, Location 3 0.65 Mt at 2.47% Ni, Location 5A 0.043 Mt at 4.74% Ni and the open cut at this location 0.020 Mt at 2.50% Ni. The source does not shed any light on copper at the location, however enrichment of Cu in these nickel locations within the region is known and has been documented.
