Abandoned dolomite quarry on the left bank of the Klyaz’ma River to the northeast of Shchyolkovo (Shchelkovo). For a long time, dolomites of the Amerevo Formation (Dobryatinian Horizon, Gzhelian) were extracted here; they are bedded on variegated clays of the underlying Shchelkovo Formation of the same horizon (Dan’shin, 1947). At present, two pits are identifiable: the Old or Amerevskiy quarry [Старый or Амеревский карьер], nearest to Shchyolkovo, and the farthest New or Kozhinskiy quarry [Новый or Кожинский карьер]. A large part of them is filled with water.
