This mine worked three iron lodes that cross the valley east of No Man's Land farm. The ore consists of limonite with low phosphorus, sulphur and manganese contents, which grades into siderite and hematite at depth. The easternmost lode was opened up from shafts to a depth of 32 fms below adit. The other lodes were only worked from surface excavations.
The mine was started in 1853, but abandoned again in 1855. In 1860, the property was acquired by the Blaina Iron Works of South Wales and worked until the company went bankrupt in 1865. During this time, around 100 tons of ore were shipped per week from Wadebridge. In 1871, it was tried again by a group of adventurers from northern England.
Between 1861 and 1875, the mine produced 54,741 tons of iron ores.
