ⓘ Albite Formula: Na(AlSi3O8) Reference: Contributions to Mineralogy and Petrology 48, 73-80 |
ⓘ Beryl Formula: Be3Al2(Si6O18) Reference: Dias, M. Bettencourt and Wilson, W.E. (2000): Famous mineral localities: The Alto Ligonha pegmatites (Mozambique). Mineralogical Record, 31, 459-497 |
ⓘ Cookeite Formula: (LiAl4◻)[AlSi3O10](OH)8 Reference: Contributions to Mineralogy and Petrology 48, 73-80 |
ⓘ Hafnon ? Formula: HfSiO4 Description: Two samples of zonated zircon-hafnon crystal from Conco (Morro Conco) were analyzed by XRF analysis among 7 other samples from localities in the Alto Ligonha pegmatites, Mozambique.
The data for the sample (bulk analysis) gave a Hf/(Hf+Zr) ratio of 38 and 47, thus a hafnian Zircon.
The samples were not microprobed. The zircon/hafnon crystal was zoned. The xrf data gave only an average, and didn't give a minimum-maximum range within a crystal. So it's possible that hafnon could exist as a zonated area in the samples or in other zircon-hafnon crystals at Morro Conco, but this was not proved by Correia Neves et al. 1974.
