Name(s) in local language(s):
Miniera di Pereta, Pereta, Scansano, Grosseto, Toscana, Italia
The mine is named after the village of Pereta ( https://www.mindat.org/loc-284379.html ) in the neighbouring municipality of Magliano in Toscana.
An abandoned antimony mine. The type locality for peretaite and the co-type locality for coquandite.
The antimony ore is of epithermal origin, hosted in a brecciated and silicized limestone.
Geographical coordinates of Lat. 42°38'35.99"N, Long. 11°21'28.05"E refer to the second (formerly more prospective) open pit, now almost completely filled by vegetation. (From in situ visit, re-checked on satellite images with Google Earth).
