Ancient mining on copper deposit (started 1100-800 A.C., then again 1769; intermittent mining until 1926).
A Lahn-Dill-type ore deposit; the ores are bound, however, not to basic magmatites, but only to the accompanying 'Wildschönauer Schiefer' and pyroclastic rocks.

Located E of the genetically identical Jochberg deposit.
