Located about 5 km NE of Beaujeu and 10 km SW of Mâcon.

This is the biggest manganese deposit in France, composed of two veins in a granite and several stratiform deposits in Triassic/Liassic sediments. Discovered in 1750, it was operated under the village by many shafts and adits! The modern mine started in 1920 and closed in 1957 when the upper parts of the deposit (up to 115 m depth) were exhausted. Today, there is almost no visible traces of the mining past of the village...

Total production: 400,000 tons MnO2.

The coordinates are from the city hall.
