Ylämaa (Finnish: [ˈylæˌmɑː]; literally translated "the Highland") is a former municipality of Finland, located in the province of Southern Finland as part of the South Karelia region. It was consolidated with Lappeenranta on January 1, 2010.

The former municipality covers an area of 408.94 square kilometres (157.89 sq mi) of which 29.19 km² (11.27 sq mi) is water.

Note to the mineral list:

In the 1970s a dark violet material was sold at the Ylämaa Mineral Fair as dumortierite originating from an undisclosed locality in the Ylämaa area. These have later been shown to be a fluorite-topaz-Al-fluoride-microlite-feldspar mixture coming from the Topaz quarry, Kotka, Southern Finland Region, Finland. A dark violet variety may contain white powdery ralstonite-boehmite filled cavities. (Ilkka Mikkola information, Sept 2013, see message board at http://www.mindat.org/mesg-7-304405.html)
