An underground copper mine consisting of five shafts near Rockland, MI. The Michigan Mining Co. was organized in 1899 and consisted of property formerly owned by Minesota, Rockland, and Superior Mining Co's. Michigan discontinued work on the company budget in 1910 and leased it on tribute until 1920 when the mine closed for good. The company was consolidated with the Mohawk Mining Co. in 1923. Between 1900 and 1920, the company produced approx. 21.2 million lbs. of refined copper. Of the five Michigan shafts, only Michigan E-Shaft is worth visiting. It has been known for producing nice copper and silver. Around the 2017 time period, many fine datolites surfaced from the C Shaft, which is located in between the sprawling poor rock piles of the Minesota and Rockland Mines.
