Quarried for quartzite in the 1970s.
Noted for fairly large prismatine crystals. Jonsson (1996) describes the occurrence:
Prismatine occurs at Stakholmen as elongated, rough, prismatic crystals of a generally grey or greyish white colour, more rarely green or purplish grey...In most of the investigated specimens, prismatine is intimately intergrown in a medium- to coarse-grained white or colourless to light tan mass mainly composed of subhedral sheaves of white enstatite, white, sheafy talc and a light brownish phlogopitic mica. Dravite, quartz and plagioclase occur as slightly less common constituents of this assemblage. In some samples, a disequilibrium texture with prismatine being rimmed by dravite is apparent. In most samples, however, dravite occurs as either disparate euhedral crystals, or as anhedral, blebby inclusions in kornerupine. Cordierite mostly occurs as grey to blue anhedral masses in an outer zone of the prismatine-bearing assemblage.
Not noted is that the prismatine fluoresces a nice yellow color, best under MW UV light, complemented by the enstatite that fluoresces light blue under SW and MW, weaker color under LW UV light.
