History:
Sierra Pintada: an area of approximately 70 x 40 kilometres, located to the West and North in the vicinity of the city of San Rafael, Mendoza Province, Argentina, whose geological constitution involves shales and graywackes (presumably Precambrian) and Carbonaceous sandstones intruded by masses of quartziferous porphyries, porphyrite, and their tuffs.
In this environment various radioactive, irregular expressions have been localized embedded in gaps or contact porphyry-sandstones or sandstones-graywackes containing surface Uranophane and Autunite and Schröckingerite; in only one case the existence of Pitchblende was recorded. Between the existing manifestations are mentioned: "Cuesta de Los Terneros I", "Los Chañares", "Tobas Blancas", "El alumbre" and "Puesto Agua del Toro".
This Condor agate deposit was found in 1993 by Luis de los santos.
This is the only Condor agate deposit that yield Condor agate vein.
