6 kilometres north-west of Watheroo. When the authors of the reference were re-examining the E.S. Simpson collection a previously mis-identified specimen of sampleite was discovered. The specimen was collected in 1907-1908 by A. Monger, probably during guano mining. The sampleite is an alteration product of copper sulphides in contact with guano. Also found on the specimen was atacamite, weddellite and gypsum, on goethite and manganese oxide coated friable quartz rock. The sampleite occurs as platy spheriodal aggregates.
The country rock is a partially silicified proterozoic dolomite intruded by dolerite dykes. The cave forms a 61 metre diameter collapsed doline with 26 metre high cliffs. At one point along the cliffs is a large but shallow cave. The site is easily accessed, and signposted from the main highway.
The reference notes R Adams of Electrolytic Zinc Co. of Australia, found a small chalcopyrite vein in the cliff wall near the cave. This vein had been altered by guano to crusts of atacamite with weddellite and minor sampleite. Numerous visits by the authors of the reference also located birnessite, halite, dolomite, taranakite, todorokite, apatite and malachite. The general impression is nothing was found in great quantities.
