Name(s) in local language(s):
Ägenetal (Äginental; Aeginental), Ulrichen, Goms, Wallis (Valais), Schweiz (Suisse; Svizzera)
The valley of the stream Ägene leading to the Nufenenpass from Ulrichen. The valley cuts through ortho- and paragneisses of the Gotthard massif in the northern and central part. In the southern part towards Nufenenpass and Griessee, Mesozoic metasediments are exposed. The mountain range south of the Griessee belongs to the Penninic and is made of Bündnerschiefer mica schists.
Alpine-type fissures are present at the northern end in vertically inclined paragneisses and at the southern end (Griessee area) in mica schists.
