An iron mine opened in 1914 by the Buffalo Iron Mining Co., and shipping ore through 1961. It had been taken over by the M. A. Hanna Co. sometime after 1940, and incorporated into that company's Homer-Wauseca Group. As part of that operation, the mine gained the South Homer property to the south. The mine featured 10 levels to 1310 feet depth, and workings were connected to the Wauseca Mine.
