Name(s) in local language(s):
Val Tremola, Massiccio del San Gottardo, Leventina, Ticino (Tessin), Svizzera (Schweiz; Suisse)
Tremolite is named after the Val Tremola. Yet, it lies north of the isograde delineating the first appearance of tremolite.
It is now known that the first dealer deliberately misled his clients, claiming that the mineral came from Val Tremola.
The true location and therefore type locality is Campolungo (https://www.mindat.org/loc-105911.html), further south.
