The predominent areas of both the Chapel Hill and Jupiter Creek diggings and now set aside as fossicking areas, for futher details contact PIRSA.
The Old Echunga Diggings comprise a number of locations on a 12km x 5km area. The gold was found and recovered from the quartz reefs in the Adelaide Geosyncline sediments (Aldgate Sandstone, Woolshed Flat shale/Burra group) and from alluvial deposits in the Tertiary and Quaternary formations.
Some of the names listed in the Chapel Hill Diggings include;
Chapel Hill diggings; Bells Hill diggings; Bells Hill rush; Dodds run; Hall; Hoskins Lead; Sandys Lead; Yorkeys Lead; Christmas Rush diggings; German Dam Rush diggings; New Rush diggings; Poor Mans Hill Rush diggings; National Gold mine; Poor Mans Hill Rush Gold, Prince Alfred Mine diggings.
