Old iron- and cerium mine. Disseminated magnetite-amphibole skarn replacement in marble.
Located between Fagersta and Norberg on the northern side of the St. Malmtjärn lake.
The oldest record of the Malmkärra mine is from 1664. Magnetite ore was mined (~100,000 t of Fe) until production stopped in 1936.
