Alluvial placer deposit. Pyropes (so-called "Czech garnets") are mined from Holocene gravels of Kalenský potok (Stream) in the Vestřev village. Pyropes come from Permian sandstones of the Vrchlabí Formation, the primary rock source is unknown.
Located 50 km E of Turnov.
