Myself with a Beryl Cluster
Case Quarries, Portland, Middlesex County, Connecticut, USAMyself working on large 4 beryl cluster in the stubborn quartz core during the early summer of 2014. Fortunately, I was able to free it with minor repairs.
Beryl Crystal in Situ - Prospect #4
Case Quarries, Portland, Middlesex County, Connecticut, USAA beryl crystal showing the typical 'steeple' growth pattern seen at the Case quarries. The root of the beryl begins in the wall zone and terminates into a stubby, well formed crystal in the quartz core. This beryl is about 14cm long. Unfortunately, as is the case with many of the crystals in this zone, it fell apart upon removal.
28P-PR8Almandine Fe2+3Al2(SiO4)3
State Forest Quarry No. 1, East Hampton, Middlesex County, Connecticut, USADimensions: 5.8 cm x 4.3 cm x 4.8 cm
Garnet crystal collected from the dumps on the May 30th permitted dig with the Meriden Mineral club.
Unidentified mineral
Citrus County, Florida, USAI found this specimen in an old phosphate mine. Possibly thinking that the blue is vivianite and the crystals inside are strunzite or apatite

UV9-N34Quartz (Var: Amethyst) SiO2
Ashaway, Hopkinton, Washington County, Rhode Island, USAAmethyst scepter from the famous Ashaway village location. Size of crystal is 5cm x 2.5cm
831-DM5Calcite CaCO3 , Calcite (Var: Sand-Calcite) CaCO3
Cross Florida Barge Canal, Inglis, Citrus County, Florida, USACalcite and sand calcite crystals. Half of the crystals are clear because they into a vug while the impure calcite simply continued growing through the dolomite matrix. FOV is 2cm
TCX-31PCalcite (Var: Sand-Calcite) CaCO3
Cross Florida Barge Canal, Inglis, Citrus County, Florida, USAA spherical concentration studded with rhombic 'sand calcite' crystals. This is because the calcite has incorporated the sucrosic dolomite host rock. FOV is 6cm
30V-ER2Calcite CaCO3
Cross Florida Barge Canal, Inglis, Citrus County, Florida, USAHoney colored calcite scalenohedrons filling a small vug. FOV is 2cm
CMT-RFUCalcite (Var: Sand-Calcite) CaCO3
Cross Florida Barge Canal, Inglis, Citrus County, Florida, USAA spherical concentration studded with rhombic 'sand calcite' crystals. This is because the calcite has incorporated the sucrosic dolomite host rock. Size of nodule is 5cm by 2.5cm.
