John Seibel conquering the Sulfate Pile
Dexter No. 7 Mine, Calf Mesa Mining District, Emery County, Utah, USAIn 1988 most of the species described from the Dexter No. 7 mine could be found in a small pile of ore near the portal. The sulfates were distributed nicely by solution and evaporation into openings and on to rock surfaces in the pile. Collecting was generally easy, although some of the sulfates had cemented the rock into fairly tough masses.
