A metamorphosed gabbro or dolerite in which generally fibrous amphibole (uralite) has replaced the original clinopyroxene (commonly augite). It is usually massive but may have some schistosity. Commonly found as dykes and usually composed of amphibole, plagioclase, chlorite, ilmenite and magnetite.
