Name:
It was first described as "oxiberaunite", an oxidised "variety" of beraunite from the Eleonore Mine, Rodheim-Bieber, Wetzlar, Hesse, Germany. Approved by IMA as a new mineral in 2015 (IMA 2015-003).
Closely related to beraunite and forms by oxidation of the latter.

The heteropolyhedral framework of the structure is similar to that of beraunite, contains Fe(1-4)(O,OH,H2O)6 octahedra, isolated PO4 tetrahedra, and wide channels hosting water molecules.
