Named in 1996 by Alexander Petrovich Khomyakov, D.V. Lisitin, I.M. Kulikova, and R.K. Rastsvetaeva in honor of Boris Nikolaevich Delone (Delaunay) (15 March 1890, Saint Petersburg, Russian Empire - 17 July 1980, Moscow, Soviet Union), mathematical crystallographer and mountain climber.
