Name:
Named in 1954 by L. S. Borodin and M. E. Kazakova in honor of Nikolai Vasil'evich Belov [December 14, 1891 Ianov, Lublin Province, Poland (now Ukraine)- March 6, 1982 Moscow, Russia], former Head of the Crystallography and Crystallochemistry Department, Moscow Lomonosov State University, Moscow, Russia.
Fluorine was not (in the first description) determined of the type specimen from Mt. Malyi Pukaruaiv, Lovozero, Kola, Russia (Borodin & Kazakova 1954). Pekov et al. (1995) studied samples of belovite-(Ce) from different localities, including the reinvestigation of the holotype, established its idealized end-member formula NaCeSr3(PO4)3F and confirmed the spacegroup P-3, which was earlier recognized by Klevtsova & Borisov (1964).
A mineral in the Belovite Group of the Apatite Supergroup. The cerium analogue of belovite-(La). The NaSr3Ce analogue of fluorapatite. The strontium analogue of kuannersuite-(Ce).
