Name:
Named for being the Ce-analog of ferriakasakaite. The root name is in honor of Masahide Akasaka (b. 1950), professor at Shimane University, Japan. The name includes a prefix and a suffix indicating constituent elements according to the epidote-supergroup nomenclature.
Isostructural with:
A monoclinic (P21/m) epidote supergroup mineral.
Ce-analogue of ferriakasakaite-(La).

It is virtually impossible to distinguish between Ferriakasakaite-(Ce) and Manganiakasakaite-(La) by physical properties.

As small homogeneous domains within strongly inhomogeneous prismatic crystals, where other epidote supergroup minerals coexist [manganiandrosite-(Ce), “androsite-(Ce)”, and epidote].

Type material is deposited in the mineralogical collections of the Museo di Storia Naturale, Università di Pisa, Via Roma 79, Calci (Pisa), Italy, catalogue number 19903
