Quartz-rich (>60%) coarse-grained crystalline igneous rock. They usually include some feldspars and micas and/or amphiboles. It is subdivided into quartzolite (>90% quartz) and Quartz-rich granitic rock (60-90% quartz).
In many cases these rocks may be hydrothermally altered granitoids (i.e greisens) rather than true igneous rocks.
