Chemistry quite similar to that of stannite. Author's proposed name is "covellostannite", as the mineral is suggested to be formed as a member of an isomorphous series with stannite by addition of Cu2S molecule. However, the composition is close to Zn-free stannoidite, but PXRD pattern differs, thus it might possibly be a polymorph of stannoidite. Not isomorphous with stannite.

Chemically also comparable to 'UM1984-30-S:CuFeSn', and 'UM1984-31-S:CuFeSn'.

Found in low-temperature veins togehter with bismuth, chalcopyrite, löllingite, pyrite, pyrrhotite, stannite. It is closely associated with stannite and forms elongated spindle-like grains, a few up to 40-60 microns in size.
