Name:
Originally named barium-pharmacosiderite by Kurt Walenta in 1966 in allusion to its composition reflecting the dominant barium and its relationship to pharmacosiderite. Renamed by the IMA in 2008.
Pharmacosiderite Group.
The tetragonal-pseudocubic Ba-Fe-end member.

The polymorphs bariopharmacosiderite-C (cubic) and bariopharmacosiderite-Q (tetragonal) are described by Hager et al. (2010).
