Named for it relationship to sartorite and for hepta- (Greek for seven) for the seven-fold superstructure of a 4.2 Å subcell. The unofficial term M-sartorite has been used to described more than one species of hepta-, ennea- and hendekasatroite. The root name is for Wolfgang Sartorius von Waltershausen (1809 - 1876) Professor of Mineralogy, University of Göttingen, Germany.
Sartorite homologous series.
Physical and optical properties similar to enneasartorite and hendekasartorite. Careful quantitative chhemical analysis and/or single-crystal X-ray diffraction is needed to distinguish them.
