Formula:
CaVAlSiO6
The general formula: Ca(V,Sc,Ti,Mg,Al)AlSiO6
Crystal System:
Monoclinic
Name:
in honour of Donald S. Burnett, cosmochemist at the California Institute of Technology
Pyroxene group. The V analogue of davisite (Sc), esseneite (Fe3+), grossmanite (Ti3+), and kushiroite (Al). Contains both trivalent and tervalent titanium admixture. A complete solid solution with grossmanite and davisite is possible.

Known as a synthetic phase - Ca(V,Al)AlSiO6.

Chemically somewhat similar to beckettite and mukhinite.

A new refractory phase in a Ca-Al-rich inclusion (CAI); formed rather in reducing conditions.
