Named for being the Fe2+ analogue of ericssonite. The root name is for John Ericsson (31 July 1803, Långbanshyttan, Värmland, Sweden – 8 March 1889, New York, USA), an inventor and mechanical engineer.

Type Occurrence of FerroericssoniteHide

General Appearance of Type Material:
Crystals occur in dark reddish brown foliated masses of irregular, undulating striated blades up to several mm in length.
Geological Setting of Type Material:
As late stage mineral in a sequence of minerals resulting from fluids interacting with a quartz–sanbornite vein along its margin with the country rock.
