About Plagionite Group
Formula:
Pb2N-1(Pb1-xSbx)2(Sb1-xPbx)2Sb6S13+2N, where N = 1, 2, 3 or 4
The plagonite group comprises four lead antimony sulphides in a homologous series (Moëlo and Biagioni, 2020). The members are distinguished by the thickness of a galena (PbS) slab in the crystal structure. The general chemical formula is: Pb2N-1(Pb1-xSbx)2(Sb1-xPbx)2Sb6S13+2N.
Visually the four members are hard to distinguish (all usually form tabular crystals) and reliable analyses are advised.
