Name:
Named in 1958 by Bruno H. Geier and K. Weber in honor of Willy Reiner [1895–1965], Senior Chemist, Tsumeb Corporation, Tsumeb, Namibia, who analyzed the type material.
A synthetic polymorph has been reported by Harrison (2010).
