Named in 2011 by S. Szakáll, B. Fehér, S. Bigi, and F. Mádai for Sándor Klaj [b. 1948], a Hungarian miner and mineral collector.
Isostructural with:
Klajite forms irregular or sheaf-like aggregates up to 0.5 mm in diameter, which is made up of lath-like to thin tabular crystals, typically 0.05–0.2 mm in length. Twinning was not observed. The mineral is greenish yellow to yellowish green, translucent, with white streak and vitreous luster.
