Name:
Named in honor of Viekko Henrik Pääkkönen (18 March 1907 – 6 May 1980), geologist with the Geological Survey of Finland. Two of his major achievements were his work on the Otanmäki iron deposits and the Seinäjoki antimony deposit. The latter is the type locality of pääkkönenite.
