Named in honor of Frank Croydon Perham (b. 5 March 1934), geologist and pegmatite miner of West Paris, Maine, USA, in honour of his dedicated labours in the recovery of mineral specimens.
Structurally related to crandallite but not a member of the Plumbogummite Group.

Visually similar to various crandallite-group minerals and iangreyite. See also krásnoite, a mineral closely related to perhamite.
