Name:
After Professor Joseph Murdoch [February 19, 1890 Washington, D.C., USA – December 31, 1973 Santa Monica, California, USA], professor of mineralogy, University of California, Los Angeles, California, USA. Murdoch was an authority on ore microscopy and ore genesis. He studied, among other things, the California borate minerals, the Crestmore quarries, and pegmatites in northern Brazil. He also served as president of the Mineralogical Society of America.
A secondary mineral found in the oxidized zones of lead-copper deposits.
