Named by Andrew M. McDonald and George Y. Chao in honor of Dr André Edmond Lalonde (1955, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada - 21 December 2012) Professor of Mineralogy at the University of Ottawa, Canada. His interest lay in phyllosilicates. He was especially known for his teaching abilities.
